Use the Penny Test to see if your Hyundai's tires need replacing

Whether you only drive your car once a week, or your Hyundai Elantra, Tucson, or Sonata is hitting the road every single day, it's important to keep a close eye on tire condition.

Strong, quality tires with a thick tread give you more traction and stability on the road, increase the effectiveness of other safety systems, and can even increase your fuel economy. But how can you tell if your tires have an appropriate amount of tread?

The penny test!

  • Hold a penny, head facing you and top facing down toward the tire
  • Insert the penny into the tire tread
  • Take a good, hard look at Honest Abe
  • If you can't see the top of his head, your treads are good; if you can see it, your tires are too worn
